Aly Giermann Therapy
My Approach
I believe therapy is one of the most meaningful tools we have for growth, healing, and real change — and yes, starting therapy can feel intimidating. Just being curious about therapy is enough. You don’t have to have it all figured out to take a first step.
Therapy isn’t about being “fixed” or having all the answers. It’s about having a space where you can show up exactly as you are—messy thoughts, big feelings, unanswered questions and all—without pressure or judgment. Many of the people I work with come in feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of who they are or where they’re headed. Others know exactly what they want but feel blocked by fear, self-doubt, or old patterns that just won’t budge.
My style is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine connection, not a one-sided conversation. We’ll laugh when it makes sense (because sometimes humor is a coping skill), sit with the hard stuff when needed, and work together to help you feel more confident, grounded, and capable in your life. Using a strengths-based approach, I help clients build practical tools to navigate stress, improve relationships, build confidence and create a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.
Specialties
My approach is holistic and evidence-based, and sessions may incorporate modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, mindfulness practices, and attention to the mind-body connection.
I am honored to work with many clients who have experienced trauma in their lives. Trauma often shows up in ways that don’t always make sense — such as anxiety, emotional numbness, difficulty in relationships, hypervigilance, or feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change.
My approach emphasizes safety, collaboration, and choice. Therapy moves at your pace, with a focus on helping your nervous system feel more regulated and supported, rather than pushing you to revisit painful experiences before you’re ready. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, connected, and empowered in your daily life, honoring your resilience while supporting meaningful, sustainable healing.
I specialize in working with clients seeking an LGBTQ-affirming therapist and also love working with neurodivergent folks. I am committed to providing an inclusive, supportive, and respectful space for people of all identities.
Meet the Team
Aly Giermann, LCSW
Founder and TherapistI earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Vanguard University. My professional background includes working in a group private practice setting, a substance abuse treatment center, an award winning hospital in Orange County, a domestic violence shelter, and as part of a palliative and hospice care team.
These experiences have shaped a compassionate, grounded approach to therapy and allow me to work comfortably with clients from many different backgrounds and life experiences.
When I’m not working, I love hiking and camping. You’ll usually find me on a trail with family, friends, and my two dogs—getting fresh air, perspective, and reminding myself to practice what I encourage clients to do: get outside and take breaks!
If I’m not outside, I also enjoy getting creative with watercolor painting and simple pottery projects or cooking with new recipes.

I do not provide any in-person services.

I do not take insurance or bill insurance directly. However, I provide a superbill so client's can obtain reimbursement through submitting a claim with their insurance. I always encourage folks to reach out to their insurance provider and ask about out-of-network mental health benefits. The insurance carrier should be able to advise on how much reimbursement a client can expect to receive back.

Sessions are $150 for a 50-55min appointment.
Therapy is an investment in your long-term well-being, not just a weekly appointment. My fees reflect the extensive training, ongoing education, and preparation that go into providing thoughtful, ethical care, as well as the costs of maintaining a private practice. I believe in being transparent about fees and I’m happy to discuss them with you. If cost is a concern, we can explore options such as insurance reimbursement, limited sliding-scale availability, or referrals to other resources, so that you can find the support that feels right for you.
A Good Faith Estimate will be provided to clients to promote transparence with fees.
-
Meeting weekly to start is recommended. This helps establish a strong therapeutic relationship, builds consistency, and supports active integration of new coping skills.
Depending on your availability and potential financial constraints we can also meet bi-weekly or monthly.
The frequency of therapy often tapers down with time and with the reduction of stressors and nagging symptoms.
